Semiware launches surge and ESD protection solution for xDSL

1 Overview

Because xDSL equipment is connected to the infrastructure of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), the equipment may be exposed to overcurrent and overvoltage hazards caused by AC power collisions, power line induction, and lightning surges. Therefore, effective circuit protection solutions need to be added to the circuit to help xDSL telecommunications equipment not be damaged by lightning strikes and transient surge voltages caused by equipment switching operations.
