SMAJ5.0CA is a bidirectional transient voltage suppression diode in a compact SMA/DO-214AC package, suitable for high-density PCB layout. The device is specially designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from transient voltages (such as ESD, lightning strikes, inductive load switching, etc.) and is widely used in communication equipment, industrial control systems, power management, consumer electronics and other fields.

Working Principle

SMAJ5.0CA uses silicon avalanche technology. When a transient pulse exceeding its breakdown voltage appears in the circuit, the device will quickly change from a high impedance state to a low impedance state, shunting the overvoltage energy to the ground. The bidirectional model can suppress transient voltages in both positive and negative directions, while the unidirectional model can only suppress transients in one direction.
