Working Principle
SMAJ58CA uses silicon avalanche technology. When a transient pulse exceeding its breakdown voltage appears in the circuit, the device will quickly change from a high impedance state to a low impedance state, shunting the overvoltage energy to the ground. The bidirectional model can suppress transient voltages in both positive and negative directions, while the unidirectional model can only suppress transients in one direction.
