Overview
The volt-ampere characteristic curve of the ESD electrostatic suppressor is similar to that of the TVS. Unlike the TVS, the ESD electrostatic suppressor has lower power and lower operating voltage. The operating voltage of the ESD electrostatic suppressor is designed according to the operating voltage of the chip to be protected.
Parameters
- VRWM: Reverse cutoff voltage, that is, the maximum working voltage allowed to be applied by the ESD electrostatic suppressor. At this voltage, the ESD is in the cutoff state, and the leakage current of the ESD electrostatic suppressor is very small, which can reach about 10 nanoamperes.
- IR: Reverse leakage current, that is, the leakage current of the ESD electrostatic suppressor is measured when the VRWM voltage is applied at both ends of the ESD electrostatic suppressor.
- VBR: Breakdown voltage, the breakdown voltage is the voltage at which the ESD electrostatic suppressor starts to act (avalanche breakdown), generally measured at a specified current, usually at a current of 1mA.
- IPP: Peak pulse current, ESD electrostatic suppressors are generally measured using 8/20μs waveforms.
- VC: Clamping voltage, the voltage across the ESD electrostatic suppressor is measured at a given IPP.
- Cj: The junction capacitance of the PN junction will affect data transmission. When selecting an ESD electrostatic suppressor for high-frequency signals, the impact of Cj on the signal must be considered.
